Is the Business of Sport Business as Usual? Part 2.

Is the Business of Sport Business as Usual? Part 2.

24 November 2017

Despite recent momentous achievements in British women’s sport (a historic cricket world cup win, a euros semi-final and an outstanding rugby world cup), 95% of all sports coverage is about men, and female sport accounts for just 0.5% of total sponsorship.

On the 23rd of November, we opened our doors for the 2nd in a series of Business of Sport events to specifically address the issue of gender inequality in sport.

ITV Sports Presenter Jill Douglas hosted a panel of experts including Steve Grainger (Development Director, RFU), Katie Brazier (Head of Women’s Leagues & Competitions, The FA), Stephen Jones (Sports Journalist, The Times), Stuart Fuller (Chairman, Lewes FC), Sally Horrox (Managing Partner, Y Sport) and Laura Weston (Managing Director, Iris)

We addressed how trade bodies, brands and agencies working in the sports industries can work together to build the recognition and support women’s sport so richly deserves, and capitalise on the unique opportunity that it presents.
