With the quick-service food category awash with huge variety and limited time offers, it can be hard for any brand to cut through with something that’s truly groundbreaking.

Enter the Pizza Hut KFC Popcorn Chicken Pizza. A sell-out in the UK when it was first trialed in 2020, this unthinkable collaboration between two loved brands was the perfect opportunity to reinvigorate Pizza Hut as a category breaker.

In order to ensure the global introduction of Pizza Hut’s KFC Popcorn Chicken Pizza wasn’t lost as just another menu option, we needed to position the KFC Pizza as a must-try option for all pizza fans.

Starring Parker J Parkerson, Pizza Hut’s long-time brand ambassador, we created a 30” announcement film, with Parker warning the internet to ‘brace itself’ as he reveals a collaboration so mind-blowing it could possibly break the internet.

As soon as the Pizza Hut KFC Pizza is introduced, the meltdown begins and Parker takes us on a journey through the internet collapsing on itself, in his signature tongue-in-cheek style.

In the UK the campaign was supported by activations on TikTok and Instagram reels, with Diversity’s Perri Kiely launching a new dance to the infamous Pizza Hut and KFC song, sharing to his 1.8 million followers.

Whilst other food brands have flirted with each other, this was the first time two major brands in the same category have truly collaborated on a single product globally.

The campaign ran globally across 20 markets, and came under Pizza Hut’s global brand platform ‘Now That’s Delivering’, created by Iris in 2018.

The campaign also achieved 79 pieces of coverage, with 7 pieces of national coverage, including features in The Sun, Mail Online, Metro Online and Mirror Online.
